Jalisco Bungalow

This addition was designed for and inspired by remarkable bay and mountain views.  We hired a local contractor and chose readily available material so as to support the local economy.  The design intention was to make the addition feel an integral part of the original structure;  we adopted similar materials (wood-framed windows made of local “barcino”, ceramic “saltillo” tiles), curved the roof lines and chose a scale that is proportionate to the house.  Apart from this, the space is about comfort, illumination and simplicity.
